About the Image Bank

In 2018, the Secretariat established this image bank with the purpose of storing representative photographs of the history of the Antarctic Treaty since its signing in Washington in 1959.

The photos contained in the image bank are currently classified into four collections: The Treaty in Antarctica, Special occasions, People, and Meetings. More collections can be added depending on the material that is incorporated into the bank or to cover special events as "exhibits".

We would like to invite users to provide us with original photographic material to be incorporated into the image bank under a Creative Commons license. We would especially appreciate receiving pictures from the first Antarctic Treaty Meetings.

The submission of photographic material should be accompanied by this form.
